Supergirl Season 1 Episode 4

Spoiler Zone

Ok so since the first episode, I was sceptical. It is SOOO cheesy that tries so hard to acknowledge the cheese and runs with it as a gag but it's so bad I just can't. Even the intro when Melissa Benoist is like 'I'm SUPERGIRL' I'm like 'This is not a kids show...'

Even though this is Superman, the whole idea just reminds me of Spiderman where Peter works at the Daily Bugle and J Jonah Jameson always needs to have the exclusive on Spiderman even though Peter is at his desk all day erry day. Speaking of the boss, even though it's so cliché, I'm really liking Calista Flockhart's portrayal of the mean boss. She doesn't do it perfectly as I sense a fakeness but I think that's part of it. I enjoyed this episode because we saw a more vulnerable sense of Cat (which can we just talk about how Livewire called her Kitty like her character in Brothers and Sisters) and since the first episode I had quite a bit respect for her and this episode kind of escalated it.
Talking about her son, and having an interest in Kara for once perked my interest a bit because she didn't seem like the type of person to let out her personal life let alone be invested in her assistant's.

Just gonna touch on the Livewire thing a bit because I honestly didn't find her relevant other than being a way to open up Kat in being a mother/mentor figure type (in her own way I guess) and for Kara to realise she can do harm on people when she's 'saving' them. It annoys me so fkn much when those villains that were 'created' (in quotes because the word I'm looking for is more like instigated but not quite) by the heroes are not even a bit grateful for their new power. Instead, they try to kill them, because fuck you that's why.

Then there was the whole family thing with Cat having a kid and the girls' mother coming to town and shedding light on the DEO and Hank Henshaw's part in it and 'omg what really happened to their dad?!?!?211' We know Henshaw is an alien because his eyes glowed in one episode and according to DC comics, he's a super villain that is a cyborg, so I don't really know what's going on there but shit will go down eventually which is why I continue to watch this show for some reason.

And then let's talk about Kara's love life. Leslie aka Livewire did talk about it in the opening but that was kind of rude and vulgar lol. I just want to say first of all that Jenna Dewan Tatum is so gorgeous and I love her but something tells me Jimmy oh sorry James doesn't want to be with her. He likes Kara and so does Winn. And omg can we also talk about the fact that Jeremy Jordan out of all people is playing a shy nerdy guy???? Nup, it's not working for me. I liked him better in Smash where he was the bad sexy guy with a fucking amazing voice. Here, he's so awkward, like that kiss on the cheek lol what even was that, Kara's expression was 'oh lord what do I do?' But you know what, if I didn't know what he was capable of or I didn't know any better, he does a pretty good job at it. I'm looking forward to see how he evolves and becomes a stronger person and show Kara that he is worth more than just her tech handler. And I hope she gets over James but I think something is going to happen between them soon. It'll hurt Winn but he'll either move on or Kara will realise that she likes Winn too. Or maybe it'll be the other way around. Or maybe nothing will happen because Kara is so naive.

Ok I'm done ranting, hopefully the next episode has more interesting stuff.
Adios.
